Butler Twp. Police3:22 p.m. Sunday — Darren R. Halli, 37, of Zelienople and Kasey R. Dischman, 29, of East Butler were arrested a day after they allegedly teamed up to steal $80 worth of food at the Giant Eagle store at Moraine Pointe Plaza.Police said Halli on Saturday took the food and fled to an awaiting vehicle that Dischman was driving. The suspected thieves drove away but were subsequently identified.Butler police found the suspects’ vehicle on Third Avenue. The pair was arrested a short time later. Each, a township police report noted, was wanted by other departments on unrelated arrest warrants.Halli was arraigned on felony charges of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, and misdemeanor charges of theft and receiving stolen property. Dischman was arraigned on a felony charge of conspiracy to commit retail theft and misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit theft.Additionally, Dischman was arraigned on charges filed by township police on Monday stemming from an alleged break-in Dec. 21.In that case, police said, the defendant broke into a home in the 200 block of Evans City Road and stole a laptop computer. She is charged with burglary, trespass and theft.Dischman and Halli were placed in the Butler County Prison on $35,000 and $25,000 bail, respectively, following their arraignments.5:09 a.m. Sunday — Phillip A. Smaretsky, 31, was arrested after he allegedly struck and choked his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at their home on Whitestown Road in Lyndora. Smaretsky was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.2:35 p.m. Saturday — Missy M. Emerick, 28, and Justin J. Bruce, 29, allegedly left a 2-year-old child unattended in the living room while they used heroin in the bedroom of their apartment on Old Plank Road. The child, according to court documents, is Emerick’s daughter.Emerick and Bruce are both charged with child endangerment, reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Emerick also is charged with tampering with physical evidence, a misdemeanor.6:53 p.m. Friday — A teenager was hurt when a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl struck the back of another vehicle that was stopped for traffic on the Route 8 off-ramp leading to Route 422 west.A 17-year-old passenger in the girl’s vehicle was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor injury. Police did not identify either teen. The 17-year-old driver was cited for careless driving. Eric E. Heltzell, 36, of Butler, was the other driver.Friday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Justin X. Selfridge, 21, of West Sunbury stemming from an attempted break-in last month at a home on Old Plank Road. A surveillance camera about 5:15 p.m. Jan. 19 captured the suspect breaking a window at the home.Selfridge is charged with attempted trespass, a felony, and criminal mischief, a summary.

State Police, Butler5:15 p.m. Sunday — Jason Erdos, 39, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 356, north of Marwood Road in Jefferson Township.2:52 a.m. Saturday — Brittany A. Clair, 27, of Cranberry Township was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 68 and Main Street in Connoquenessing.Saturday — An unknown vandal damaged a 56-year-old woman’s mailbox at her home on Boyers Road in Marion Township. The vandalism happened between 10 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
