Mars falls to state power Allderdice

John Castello scored 26 points and Robby Carmody added 24, but Mars fell to Allderdice, 77-68, at the Pittsburgh Classic at Montour High School Sunday afternoon.

The non-section loss broke a five-game winning streak for the Planets (15-5).

Ramon Creighton scored 26 points to lead Allderdice (17-1).

Knoch 76, Slippery Rock 41 — Austin Hannes scored 16 points and Aiden Albert and Devin Campbell each added 13 as the Knights jumped out to a big lead and cruised in this non-section win.

The Knights (12-6) led 44-21 at the half.

Ryan Dutton led Slippery Rock with 20 points.

Girls Basketball

Steph Croll drained five 3-pointers as Slippery Rock rolled to a 56-26 non-region win over visiting Knoch.

Croll scored 19 points.

Marissa Siebka added 16 points, five assists and seven steals for the Rockets (12-5).

Emily Fraser led Knoch with eight points.

Indoor Track and Field

Butler senior Emily Horstman set a school indoor track record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.68 seconds at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association Indoor meet Saturday at Edinboro University.

Horstman finished second in the event on the way to breaking the record held by Paige Allen.

Horstman also anchored the Golden Tornado 800-meter relay team that placed second and was fourth in the 60-meter dash.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Abby Boyle, Erin LeMay, Hannah Hays and Alexis Leech placed first for Butler.

On the boys side, the Golden Tornado 800-meter relay team of Nathen Kibbie, Lamont Hoy, Connor Frost and Luke Kernic won the event with a time of 1 minute, 34 seconds.
