State Police, Butler2:10 a.m. Saturday — Three men were hurt, two seriously, in a suspected drunken driving crash in eastern Mercer County.The wreck happened when Derek L. Richael, 22, of Stoneboro lost control of his speeding pickup truck northbound on Route 62 in Stoneboro. The pickup traveled off the east berm and rolled over three times.Richael and his two passengers — Sean T. Murdock, 21, of Jackson Center and Shane R. Scott, 29, of Stoneboro — were all thrown out of the truck. None of the occupants were wearing a seat belt.Police suspect Richael was driving under the influence. He and Murdock were flown by medical helicopters to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with serious injuries. Scott suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment.Police said DUI charges are pending toxicology tests and the medical outcomes of the injured occupants.Jan. 20 — About 900 pounds of copper scrap was stolen from Bob’s Auto and Salvage on Route 8 in Oakland Township. Police suspect two males took the property from the scrap yard between 12:30 and 3:30 a.m.A police report did not indicate if any suspects have been identified. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

State Police, KittanningSunday — Three suspected vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage, primarily to vehicles and mailboxes, in South Bend Township. The two-week vandalism spree between Jan. 18 and Sunday occurred on West Lebanon, Girty and Olivet roads.Police, who did not identify the suspects, said their investigation continues. Investigators noted they are still awaiting the damage estimates from some of the victims.Sunday — An unknown thief smashed a window and stole an MP3 player from a vehicle at a parking lot near the Worthington-West Franklin Volunteer Fire Department station in Worthington. The theft happened between 6 and 10 p.m.7:50 p.m. Saturday — Brandon Cerminara, 24, of Templeton is accused of shoplifting three DVDs from the Walmart at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Cerminara faces a charge of retail theft.4:04 p.m. Saturday — A 41-year-old Kittanning man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Pony Farm Road in North Buffalo Township.6:30 p.m. Friday — A Worthington man was uninjured after his car caught fire in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County. Brian K. Buerkle, 48, was northbound on Route 28 about one-half mile south of Exit 10 when he noticed fire coming from the front left side of his 2013 Nissan Altima.He pulled over to the side of the road before flames engulfed the car. O’Hara Township volunteer firefighters were called and put out the blaze.9:50 a.m. Friday — Hunter Lee Sowers, 22, of New Wilmington was arrested after he returned to the scene of an alleged crime he committed earlier at the PennDOT stock pile yard on New Castle Mercer Road in Springfield Township.Police suspect Sowers stole guide rail support pieces from the PennDOT facility, loading up the items into the back of his pickup truck and driving away. A witness reported the theft.The suspect about two hours later returned the PennDOT property. The same witness immediately notified police. A short time later, troopers made a traffic stop, arresting Sowers. Police said they found his truck loaded with steel stolen from the PennDOT lot.The defendant was arraigned on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $15,000 bail.

State Police, New CastleJan. 15 — An unknown thief stole several unspecified items from the back of a truck at a home on Ellwood Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The theft happened Jan. 14 or 15. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-598-2211.
