Moniteau earns 3rd straight victory

Moniteau featured four players scoring in double digits — led by Lake Pry's 13 — in a 66-44 KSAC boys basketball win over visiting A-C Valley Wednesday night.

Aaron Marterella scored 11 while Derek Boben and Ross Tenney both added 10 for the Warriors (5-12), who have won three straight games.

Kody Wolfe and Joe Manculich both scored 11 points for the Falcons (5-12).

Union 77, Redbank Valley 65 — The Golden Knights withstood a 36-point fourth quarter from the Bulldogs in this KSAC road win.

Cole Morris scored 34 points for Union (12-6), including a 17-of-23 effort from the foul line and Hank Murphy chipped in with 20 points.

Sam Heeter dropped in 36 points and hit ten 3-pointers for Redbank.

Wrestling

Seneca Valley finished runner-up in Section 3 at Shaler High School.

The Raiders edged North Hills 30-29 to reach the title match, where they suffered a 37-30 loss to Shaler.

Butler 36, Fox Chapel 24 — The Golden Tornado advanced to the pigtail round of the WPIAL Class AAA team tournament by claiming fifth place in Section 3 with this win over the Foxes.

Caleb Baxter and Saavon Mosby picked up pins for Butler.

Bowling

Nick Huff's 649 series paced Butler's boys to a 5-2 win over Knoch at Family Bowlaway.

Huff's effort included games of 229 and 228. Hunter Lefever added a 633 series and a high-game of 237 and Shawn Marcellus contributed a 596 and game of 235 as Butler improved to 7-1.

Derek McGill led Knoch (5-3) with a 627 series and a pair of 214 games. Bryan Hindman added a 222 single.

In the girls' match, Butler (6-2) swept Knoch 7-0, with Ashley McCue rolling a 546 series and high-game of 193.

Chelsea Cimbala had a 437 series for the Knights (2-6).

Rifle

Butler 795 (55x), Indiana 779 (27x) — Matt Corlew, Brendan Lefevre, Tiffany Carlson, Jason Hansotte and Cami Tack all shot 100's for Butler.

Private Schools

Lydia Roth scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the First Baptist Christian School girls basketball team defeated Cornerstone Prep, 41-10.

Michaella Roth added 13 points and seven rebounds, Shelby Poorman 13 rebounds, Katelyn Gavinksi nine rebounds and Caitlyn Mueller five assists.
