Two fired Cranberry Township officers may appeal

CRANBERRY TWP — Two police officers fired by the township may be seeking an appeal.

Neva Stotler, township director of human resources and legal affairs, said Thursday that the officers “are pursuing their rights under the collective bargaining agreement.”

The substance of the grievance process and arbitration hearings would be private, Stotler said.

The township supervisors Thursday night did not publicly discuss the firings.

The supervisors did vote to approve the meeting minutes from a special meeting held Dec. 21.

The minutes show that at the meeting, they voted to ratify the termination of probationary police officer Scott Carney.

Carney was terminated Dec. 1 and officer Michael Pszenny was terminated Dec. 18, according to documents released by the township. Also on Dec. 18, the township notified three officers that they would be suspended for three days each.

Reasons for the discipline were not released.
