Knoch girls edge St. Joseph in OT

Knoch senior guard Allyson Riley bucketed 20 points as the Knights' girls basketball team defeated visiting St. Joseph 51-50 in overtime Monday night.

Knoch (2-15), which received 12 points from Casey Kretzer, led 30-17 at halftime.

Union led Clarion by just one point entering the final period, but scored 23 points in the final eight minutes in posting a 57-49 KSAC win on the road.

Cole Morris paced the Golden Knights (11-6) with 23 points, Lucas Bowser had 13 and Hank Murphy 11.

Keaton Hanna scored a pair of goals as Mars skated to a 4-1 win over Baldwin.

William Scurci and William Foley also scored for the Planets, who held a slim edge in shots on goal, 24-22.

Wrestling

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic freshman Matthew Ferraro of Adams Township placed third at 126 pounds in the Mercer VFW Tournament over the weekend.

Ferraro was 4-1 in the tourney, improving to 12-4 on the year. He had a pin during the competition and lost only a 6-4 decision to the eventual tournament champion.
