Knoch swims past Deer Lakes

Abby Jones captured first place in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 freestyle to aid the Knoch girls swimming team's 84-46 win at Deer Lakes Thursday night.

In the boys' meet, the Knights swept the 11 events, with Derek Ekas contributing victories in the 50 and 100 freestyles in a 78-62 triumph over the Lancers.

Both Knoch teams improved to 6-1 this season.

Michaela Lamont led the Raiders (11-4, 4-3) with 18 points, Paige Montrose had 12 and Erin Danik 10.

Hockey

Freeport won a wild 5-3 decision over West Allegheny at Belmont Ice Complex.

Both teams combined to score seven goals in the first period, with Stone Haberstroh, Michael Frazetta, Joel Bednar and Thomas Intrieri scoring for the Yellowjackets (10-4-1).

Robbie Reichenbaugh added a Freeport goal in the second period. Matt Huston made 38 saves.

Rifle

Matt Corlew, Brendan LeFevre, Cameron Tack and Luke Montag each shot 100 to lead Butler over Plum 794(57x)-784(39x).

Bowling

Bryan Hindman rolled a 211 game and 571 series while Dylan McCommon had a 211-569 to lead Knoch to a 5-2 win over Seneca Valley Wednesday.

Derek McGill converted the 7-10 split in the first game for the Knights and had a high game of 198. Derek Weaver had a 206-551 to lead Seneca Valley.

Seneca Valley won the girls match, 5-2, as Gwen Schum rolled a 180 game. Chelsea Cimbala paced Knoch with a 185.
