Moniteau boys snare win on road

Lake Pry drained 17 points and J.J. Waid offered 10 as Moniteau traveled to North Clarion and came away with a 52-49 boys basketball victory Wednesday night.

Jake Jewart added three 3-pointers in the win, which snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Warriors (2-11).

Shawn Marcellus rolled a 607 series with a high game of 226 to lead Butler to a 7-0 win over Mars.

Kyle Bintrim also had a high game of 226 for the Golden Tornado to go along with a 581 series.

Davis Schell paced Mars with a 566 series and a high game of 194.

The Mars girls edged Butler 4-3 despite the Golden Tornado besting the Planets in total pins (2,309-2,292).

Hali Hartley led Mars with a 536 series and a high game of 194. Allison Bruce added a 533 series for the Planets.

Ashley McCue led Butler with a 536 series and a high game of 224.

Mars and Butler are now in a second-place tie in the league at 4-2, but the Golden Tornado hold the tiebreaker.
