William L. Patterson Sr.

William L. Patterson Sr., 73, of Mars died Thursday morning in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

Born July 21, 1942, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Clair and Miriam Velte Patterson.

Bill had worked as the director of the Bureau of Human Resources in the Department of Human Resources in Harrisburg in the Thornburg Administration.

Later he served as the chief clerk for Butler County. He then worked for the Area Agency on Aging, and then was the court administrator for Butler County. He currently served on the board of directors of Mars Housing at Penn Mar Plaza.

A member of St. Kilian Church, he was a life member of the Mars Volunteer Fire Department, now Adams Area Fire District. He also served on the board of directors of Quality EMS. He was social member of the Mars VFW and belonged to the Cranberry Elks. He belonged to the AMS Club of South Greensburg and was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM.

Bill enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening — especially his flowers — and traveling with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie Medaglio Patterson, who he married Jan. 3, 1990; his children, Lawrie Borgman (Karl) of New Sewickley Township, Beth Ann Cook (George) of Medina, Ohio, William L. Patterson Jr. (Trudy) of Valencia, Joseph Brant (Marilyn Fabry) of Canfield, Ohio, Douglas Brant (Sarah) of Shorehan, N.Y., David Brant (Nicola) of Bristow, Va., and Todd Brant (Dee Dee) of Greensburg; and his 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Patterson.

PATTERSON — Friends of William L. Patterson Sr., who died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A mass of Christian burial will be at noon Monday at St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry streets, Mars, with the Rev. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating.Burial will be at Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.Members of John E.
