Butler PoliceMonday — Nicholas J. Campbell, 33, of Butler was charged with last week’s break-in at his sister’s home on South Church Street.Lisa Wishon told police that she was at her home when Campbell walked in without her permission and stole her purse and her husband’s backpack, according to court documents.When the suspect returned home with the allegedly stolen items, his mother recognized Wishon’s purse and grabbed it from him and returned it to its owner.Campbell is charged with burglary and theft.Monday — Police filed a pair of charges against Samantha L. Walker, 18, of Clay Township stemming from a shoplifting incident Nov. 16 at the Pullman Square Family Dollar store. She is accused of giving a bogus name after allegedly taking $3 worth of cosmetics. Walker is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities and retail theft.1:02 p.m. Sunday — Jaime JE Rivera, 22, of Butler Township was caught with suspected marijuana after police were called for a fight in the 200 block of American Avenue. A pat-down search turned up a small baggie with the illegal drug in Rivera’s pants pocket, court documents said.The suspect admitted the bag contained marijuana, police said. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.12:57 a.m. Saturday — Daniel T. Gibson, 28, of Butler collapsed in the bathroom at The Net Outreach facility on Center Avenue after apparently overdosing on heroin. Staff members told police they found an uncapped syringe next to where Gibson had fallen, according to court documents.Police said they searched the garbage can in the bathroom and found a small rubber band, an item commonly used to inject heroin. Gibson is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.1:33 a.m. Nov. 20 — Nicole T. Finucan, 30, of Butler was caught with suspected drug contraband after she was arrested on a bench warrant in the 200 block of West Cunningham Street. Police said they found her with two bags that contained numerous syringes, cooking spoons, empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a crack pipe.Finucan is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.Nov. 20 — Dennis S. Drake, 31, of Prospect was charged with misdemeanor drug possession in connection with an incident in September. Police were called at 11:14 a.m. Sept. 6 for a man reportedly passed out in a car on Ridge Avenue, that’s where they found Drake.The defendant was in the driver’s seat and “incoherent,” according to court documents. He was holding a pill bottle and there was a “large pile” of yellow pills on his lap, police said.Five of the prescription pills turned out to be the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam and two of the pills were the opioid painkiller Tramadol, documents said. On the center console, police noticed a crack pipe and a suspected snorting straw.Drake is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Dustin J. Cunning, 27, and Angela C. Carlson, 23, both of Butler were arrested in connection with a shoplifting incident Sept. 10 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.Both suspects were arraigned on misdemeanor charges of retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft, and receiving stolen property. Each was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.

State Police, Butler5:14 a.m. Thursday — Devon DeLucca, 23, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was found asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle on the side of Route 8 in Clay Township.Tuesday — An unknown burglar stole an Insignia television, dining room curtain, hot plate and other items from a 45-year-old woman’s home on Hy-Vue Drive in Clinton Township. The break-in happened between Nov. 17 and Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.2 p.m. Monday — Florence E. O’Connor, 55, of Saxonburg was hurt when another car struck her car at Route 356 and Neupert Road in Jefferson Township. O’Connor, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor wrist injury.The other driver, Helen M. Limegrover, 80, of Cabot, was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.6:56 a.m. Monday — Charles W. Menke, 45, of Gibsonia was hurt when the pickup truck he was driving struck a deer on Route 38 just north of Parsonville Road in Washington Township. Menke, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.2:36 a.m. Monday — Megan Ellwood, 24, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI after she was stopped for an equipment violation on Prospect Road just west of Route 8 in Brady Township.7:36 p.m. Nov. 20 — Simon J. Miller, 29, of Fenelton was arrested for suspicion of DUI after he nearly collided with an oncoming vehicle on Herman Road about four-tenths of a mile east of Schnur Road in Summit Township.Miller, according to a police report, admitted that he had consumed alcohol, smoked marijuana and taken several prescription painkillers. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results are pending.Nov. 10 — A pair of earrings worth at least $300 were stolen from a woman’s home at Saxony Estates in Jefferson Township. The jewelry was taken between Sept. 29 and Nov. 10. Anyone with information is asked to call police.Noon Oct. 20 — A 15-year-old student was caught with an unspecified controlled substance at Knoch High School in Jefferson Township. Police did not identify the suspect, a 15-year-old Saxonburg girl. The investigation continues.

State Police, Kittanning8:09 p.m. Wednesday — A 25-year-old Kittanning man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana after he was stopped for speeding on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. Police did not identify the man, who also was found with suspected drugs and other contraband.

State Police, Mercer3:45 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Robin R. Bowser, 34, of Harrisville rear-ended another car on Route 58 in Pine Township, Mercer County. Police cited Bowser for careless driving and following too closely to another vehicle. Helen M. Fleeger, 72, of West Sunbury was the other driver.2:59 p.m. Monday — Two Grove City men were hurt in a two-pickup truck crash on Route 58 just east of Glenora Drive in Pine Township, Mercer County. James R. Hovis, 79, one of the drivers, and his passenger, Shawn A. Kloos, 40, both suffered minor injuries.The other driver, Joshua G. Collins, 27, of Morrison, Tenn., was not hurt. All three occupants were wearing seat belts. Police cited Collins for driving at an unsafe speed.
