Galante says he will refile dismissed lawsuit against county

Jon Galante, the former Butler County jury commissioner who sued the county after the county commissioners abolished his job, said he would amend his formal complaint the refile it with the county court.

County Judge Marilyn Horan recently dismissed the case.

Galante, a Republican from Butler Township, was appointed to the position in October 2012. He won the primary May 21, 2013. On May 23, 2013, the county commissioners voted to abolish the jury commissioner positions. The county had two jury commissioners — one Republican and one Democrat.

Galante sued the county in May for $15,000 plus interest for campaign expenses, time, effort and lost income. He named county commissioners, the elections bureau, Commissioner Bill McCarrier, Commissioner Dale Pinkerton and elections director Shari Brewer in the lawsuit.
