Butler Police2:11 p.m. Monday — Joshua D. Green, 37, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Erica Yurkovich, during a domestic dispute at their home on South Street. Yurkovich, who suffered minor injuries, told police that Green grabbed her and threw her down.During the fracas, the alleged victim struck her head on a table and scraped her knee. Green was gone by the time police got to the home.Officers arrested the suspect about 8:20 p.m. when they returned there and found him. In the house, police also found a glass jar containing suspected marijuana and a marijuana grinder.Green was arraigned on charges of simple assault and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.Friday — Police charged Shawn M. Wirt, 38, of Butler with felony retail theft stemming from a shoplifting incident Nov. 5 at the Kmart store at Pullman Square. Wirt is accused of taking several shirts before leaving the store.Store surveillance helped police identify the suspect, according to court documents. Wirt’s criminal record, police noted, shows he has two prior shoplifting convictions.Thursday — Mark L. Murphy, 55, of Butler was charged with a felony weapons offense in connection with a traffic stop Aug. 23 at West Brady and North Chestnut streets. Police said after pulling over Murphy’s car, they found a .25-caliber pistol in the center console. With the gun was a magazine clip loaded with four rounds.Murphy is charged with carrying a firearm without a permit and driving with a suspended license.Thursday — Police charged Whitney Ann Tucker, 21, of Butler with drug possession and a pair of traffic violations stemming from a traffic stop about 11:50 p.m. Nov. 10 at West Jefferson and West New Castle streets.Tucker was pulled over for not having her headlights on, police said. Officers moments later caught her trying to hide a plastic baggie containing eight pills, according to court documents.Those pills were later identified as the prescription drug gabapentin, which is primarily used to treat seizures and pain. Tucker did not have a prescription for the pills.She is charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and a lighting violation.

Butler Twp. Police1:28 a.m. Sunday — Devin Parker, 26, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute at an Old Plank Estates home. Police said Parker placed the woman in a headlock three times and also fired a BB gun at her.The alleged victim suffered minor injuries but was not hit by the BB gunfire.Parker was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison.Saturday — Police and firefighters responded to two separate field fires that ended with both homeowners being cited for violating the township’s burning ordinance.The first call about 4 p.m. was for a small fire of papers that rekindled next to a home on Woodlawn Road. High winds swept the fire onto leaves, two lawn mowers and a gas can.The Butler Township Fire District assisted and used its brush truck to put out the blaze. Floyd Green, 47, was cited for the ordinance violation.In the second call about 9 p.m., gusty winds rekindled a leaf fire that ignited a field behind a home on Oakland Avenue. District 3 firefighters again used the department’s brush truck to extinguish the blaze. John Ahrens, 52, was cited for the ordinance violation.10:08 a.m. Wednesday — A student allegedly started a fight at the Butler Intermediate High School. The suspect, a 15-year-old girl who police did not identify, is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

State Police, Mercer5 a.m. Monday — No one was injured when a car crashed and rolled over in Wolf Creek Township. Dalton R. Boggs, 21, of Sandy Lake lost control of the vehicle on Route 173 at Elliott Road.The car went off the road and traveled down an embankment. The vehicle rolled over and landed on its wheels. Boggs, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.4:34 p.m. Sunday — Scott R. Murvine, 27, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle on Amsterdam Road near Landfill Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County.
