Butler hockey suffers 1st defeat

The Butler hockey team generated plenty of offense Tuesday night, but suffered its first loss of the season, 7-5, to Central Catholic at the Alpha Ice Complex.

The Vikings took a 3-1 first-period lead and never trailed. A goal from Butler's Brendan Ackelson tied the game at 5 with 14 minutes, 49 seconds left in the game.

Central Catholic regained the lead with a power play goal by Jacob Kingerski three minutes later.

Connor Scott led the way with four points (one goal, three assists) for Butler (4-1-1). Sam Gross, Cameron Barto and Trevor Gilliland also scored for the Golden Tornado.

Zach Schnur made 27 saves in net.
