Butler PoliceTuesday — Austin D. Young, 20, of Summit Township was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a 12:23 a.m. Nov. 1 traffic stop on Shore Street. Police said they pulled over Young after he ran a red light at Chestnut and West Jefferson streets.Police noticed a “strong odor” of burned marijuana coming from his car. He admitted smoking marijuana earlier, documents said.A search turned up a digital scale in a pants pocket. Police looked through the car and found a marijuana pipe and eight unopened cans of beer. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood tests. Toxicology reports showed Young’s blood-alcohol level was 0.64 percent, and the presence of marijuana.In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.02 percent is considered intoxicated for an adult under 21.Young is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage possession of alcohol, and a red light violation.

Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police cited Holly A. Fedokovitz, 46, of Lyndora in connection with a hit-and-run accident about 10:15 p.m. on Butler Road. She is accused of failing to stop after her vehicle hit and damaged a mailbox.Fedokovitz is charged with hit-and-run, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.8:08 p.m. Monday — Debonair Edwards, 21, of Staten Island, N.Y., was caught allegedly shoplifting $131.71 in merchandise at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. She is charged with retail theft.Monday — Police filed felony and misdemeanor drug charges against a homeless woman stemming from the Oct. 25 overdose of a 21-year-old man in the township.Leah Labryer, 38, is accused of buying heroin for the victim on Hansen Avenue. She admitted the man gave her money that she used to buy the drug at a location where she “regularly purchases heroin,” according to court documents.Labryer is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.7:57 p.m. Sunday — A vehicle driven by Steve Powell, 61, of Medina, Ohio, crashed on the Route 422 west on-ramp. Powell was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed. Police said no charges were filed.

Grove City Police11:23 a.m. Thursday — Thane T. Bonnet, 20 of Pittsburgh was arrested one day after he allegedly stole a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer from the area of the student union on the Grove City College campus.The computer, valued at $1,590, was recovered about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in another building on campus.Bonnett was arraigned on a charge of first-degree misdemeanor theft. He is free on $15,000 unsecured bail.Nov. 5 — A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer was stolen from the J. Howard Pew Fine Arts Center at Grove City College. The computer, valued at $1,500, was taken between 7:45 and 10 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

State Police, Butler4:35 a.m. Sunday — Brittney L. Welsh, 20, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on First Street near Reeder Street. Police said Welsh, who smelled of alcohol, admitted having two drinks before driving home from Slippery Rock.She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.167 percent. Under state law, a level of 0.02 percent is considered intoxicated for an adult under 21.In addition to DUI, Young is charged with underage drinking, not using turn signals and careless driving.

State Police, ClarionMonday — Police filed six traffic tickets against Nathan A. Slee, 29, of Rimersburg stemming from a suspected hit-and-run crash about 2:35 a.m. Nov. 1 on Route 68 in Piney Township. He suffered minor injuries in the wreck.Slee is charged with hit-and-run, driving without insurance, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving without a valid vehicle registration card.State Police, Kittanning5:45 a.m. Saturday — Fire destroyed a detached garage on Nichols Road in Boggs Township. No one was injured. Kurt Harbison of Templeton owns the property, which had an estimate $80,000 in damage.The state police fire marshal’s office is investigating what started the blaze.3:45 p.m. Oct. 27 — A Kittanning man faces more than a penalty stroke for allegedly hitting a golf ball into the state police barracks in East Franklin Township. Police said James L. Merryman, 58, was seen hitting the ball from the parking lot of his employer, Surefire Wireline Co.The ball hit a vehicle in the parking lot but no damage was reported. Police said Merryman faces a ticket for attempted criminal mischief.

State Police, Mercer4 a.m. Tuesday — A 25-year-old man was hurt in a fire at a home on Barkeyville Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. Shawn Ralston was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.The house, owned by Vicky Hart of Grove City, sustained about $2,250 in damage. The state police fire marshal’s office is investigating what started the blaze. Police released no other information.
