Butler PoliceMonday — Ryan C. Cramer, 27, of Concord Township was charged with drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop about 7:10 p.m. Oct. 21 at West Penn and Bluff streets.Police suspected Cramer was impaired when they got to his pickup truck. Once he got out of the truck, an officer noticed a cooking spoon on the seat. A search of the vehicle turned up more suspected contraband, including three used syringes and a digital scale.Cramer was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports last week showed the presence of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Monday — Police charged Sara Beth Johnson, 21, of Greenville, Mercer County, with trying to hide a wanted man at an apartment in the 200 block of Walker Avenue this month.Officers about 2:35 a.m. Nov. 6 went to the apartment looking for James Cogley, who was wanted on a warrant. Police knocked but got not answer.But when an officer looked through a window, he saw someone in a bed, under the covers. The officer knocked on the window and roused the person, identified as Johnson. She opened the door but said Cogley was not there.She allowed the officers to search the apartment while continuing to deny Cogley was inside. Police found him hiding in a bedroom closet.Police charged Johnson with hindering apprehension or prosecution.Monday — Police charged Shelly V. Young, 38, of Donegal Township with bouncing two checks last month at Friedman’s supermarket on West Brady Street.Young passed the checks, which were written Oct. 12 on a closed bank account, for a combined $91.62. She is charged with two counts of theft by deception.7:54 p.m. Thursday — Danielle L. Winkle, 25, of Adams Township was arrested on an Allegheny County bench warrant at a tattoo shop on Center Avenue. A search of her purse turned up a pouch containing two suspected marijuana buds.Additionally, police said, they found a suspected marijuana pipe and methamphetamine pipe in the purse. She was taken to the Butler County Prison for the warrant. Police charged her with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Butler Twp. PoliceMonday — Police charged a Kittanning couple with shoplifting a combined $163 in merchandise Oct. 23 from the Walmart at Butler Commons. The suspects, 37-year-old Jason T. Patton and his wife, 34-year-old Sara Ann Patton, also were found with $82 in stolen items from the JC Penney store at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Both suspects are charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property. Additionally, Jason Patton is charged with trespass.Monday — Jose C. Hernandez-Alvarez, 39, of Virginia was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 31 on Route 8 south near the Comfort Inn. Police stopped his car for driving without its headlights on.Hernandez-Alvarez is charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, driving without insurance and a lighting violation.

Grove City Police2 a.m. Friday — Joshua Castelveter, 21, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on the Grove City College campus near the recreation building.Wednesday — An apartment in the 100 block of South Broad Street was burglarized and electronics were stolen. The break-in happened sometime in the afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
