Falcons advance, now 15-0

Morgan Cratty totaled 17 kills, 12 digs, five aces and three blocks in A-C Valley's 3-1 triumph over visiting Johnsonburg in the first round of the District 9 Class A girls volleyball playoffs Tuesday night.

Alyssa Babcock contributed 21 assists and 10 digs and Katie Stumpner 28 digs and 14 kills for the Falcons, who won by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 24-26 and 25-18.

Josey Terwilliger added 25 digs and nine kills, Kiersten Rothen 17 assists and 13 digs and Halee Wetzel 13 digs.

A-C Valley (15-0), the top seed in the tournament, will host Smethport in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kane 3, Union 0 — Hannah Atzeni had 14 assists in this District 9 first-round playoff loss for the Damsels (11-6).

Lexey Shick added eight digs and a pair of aces in the 27-25, 27-25, 25-18 setback.

Punxsutawney 3, Karns City 0 — The Gremlins fell to the Chucks in the District 9 Class AA semifinals. No other details were available.

Boys SoccerCaleb Stewart scored two goals and Nate Zimmerman one to lift Grove City to a 3-1 win against Meadville in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals at Oil City High School.The Eagles (17-3) will face Harbor Creek in the semifinals Thursday at a site and time to be determined.General McLane 4, Slippery Rock 2 — The Rockets (13-6) saw their season come to an end in Meadville despite two goals from Nick Stutz.
