SR gets into playoffs Rockets beat Corry 52-41 to clinch berth

Freeport's Ian Miller breaks through for a long touchdown run in the Yellowjackets' 50-35 win over Valley in New Kensington. Miller rushed for 210 yards for Freeport, which wrapped up a perfect conference record.

Ryan Lauster and Trent Porter combined for 422 yards rushing and seven touchdowns Friday night as Slippery Rock defeated Corry, 52-41, in a must-win on the road to secure a District 10 football playoff spot.

Lauster ran for 212 yards and four TDs while Porter romped for 202 yards and three scores.

The Rockets survived Corry's passing combo of Bryce Xander and Brady Davis. Xander threw three touchdown passes to Davis, the latter hauling in nine passes for 208 yards.

Corry (3-6, 3-4) was eliminated from the playoff chase with the loss.

Union 27, Clarion-Limestone 26 — The Golden Knights rallied from a 26-14 halftime deficit as Lucas Bowser scored the tying points on a 2-yard run with 33 seconds left.

Cole Morris booted home Union's only PAT attempt via kick in three years for the winning point.

A 27-yard Morris punt return set up a 12-play drive for the deciding score. Bowser threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores.

Clarion-Limestone quarterback Anthony Louder — son of Union coach Dave Louder — threw for 161 yards and a touchdown and ran for 81 yards and a score.

“This victory was the toughest of my career ... and a heartbreaking loss for our family,” Coach Louder said.

Keystone 41, A-C Valley 0 — Jake Weaver broke Keystone's career rushing record as he ran for 185 yards. He has 2,324 career rushing yards.

Brayden Shick threw for 147 yards as Keystone (5-4) moved closer to clinching a playoff spot. A-C Valley fell to 0-9.

Freeport 50, Valley 35 — The Yellowjackets rolled to a win to wrap up an 8-1 season and eliminated the Vikings from the playoffs. Freeport quarterback Ryan Weigold went 19-of-31 passing for 280 yards and four touchdowns.

Yellowjackets senior running back Ian Miller had 210 yards rushing and scored a touchdown.

Brandon Hochbein had three touchdowns and Dylan Hochbein also scored twice for Freeport.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 28, Shenango 16 — Mario Latronica scored on rushes of 2 and 5 yards to help the Trojans wrap up a 9-0 regular season with a non-conference win.

North Catholic quarterback Erick Taylor also scored on a 5-yard run and threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Dom Serventi.

VolleyballUnion 3, Moniteau 1 — The Golden Knights won this Thursday match 22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18. Sara Hull and Brittany Lindsday had solid games for Moniteau.
