SR boys soccer posts shutout

Slippery Rock's boys soccer team earned a shutout in its final regular-season game, a 4-0 victory over West Middlesex on Tuesday.

The Rockets (12-6) received goals from Matt Dempsey, Ryan Purvis and Dylan Weber.

Slippery Rock will host Fort LeBoeuf in a District 10 Class AA first-round playoff game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Girls VolleyballHalee Wetzel had 17 service points, six aces, nine digs and eight kills as A-C Valley wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 25-16, 25-7, 25-15 sweep of Keystone.Katie Stumpner added 14 digs, Kiersten Rothen 13 assists and Josey Terwilliger 12 digs for A-C Valley (14-0).Conneaut Area 3, Slippery Rock 0 — The Rockets lost by scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-15.Katie McClymonds had 15 digs in defeat, Kacie Brandenberg 11 blocks and Kortney Schaum seven kills and four aces.Karns City 3, Moniteau 0 — The Gremlins won in a sweep of the rival Warriors.Karns City will open the District 9 playoffs against Punxsutawney Tuesday.
