Ralph M. Logan

Ralph M. Logan, 85, of Butler passed away Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.

He was born July 3, 1930, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Howard M. and Virginia (Head) Logan.

Ralph was a graduate of Butler Senior High School and attended Johnson Bible College and Slippery Rock College.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a crew member in P2V Navy bomber squadron stationed in Japan and Okinawa.

In November of 1951, he married Helen M. Staaf of Butler in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Ralph was a Mason for over 50 years, belonging to the Victory Lodge 694, Valley of New Castle Consistory, the Syria Shriners of Cheswick and Syria Caravan 14. He was also a member of the local VFW 249.

He attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was a charter member. After his loving wife and dear family, his next love was singing with the SPEBSQSA. He retired as an officer of Mellon Bank after 30 years in offices in Butler, Bellevue, Kittanning and Lyndora.

Later in life, he met a true friend, Joseph G. Galino Jr. During their years of friendship, they visited over 160 restaurants in Western Pennsylvania and were known for leaving golden dollars for tips.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters, Marcia Dewey (Fred) of Harrisburg, Karen Cornibe (Bradley) of Butler and Laura Delaney of Aspinwall, Pa.; two sons, William (Virginia) Logan of Orlando, Fla., and Douglas (Phylis) Logan of Middlesex Township; 12 grandchildren, Jason Collins (Kelly), Torri Cordner (Jay), Chrissie Dewey, AJ Dewey (Kristin), Bailey Logan, Lucan Logan (Jennifer), Michelle Logan, Sarah Cornibe-Werner (Doug), Channing Cornibe, Patrick Delaney, Caitlin Delaney and Erin Delaney; seven great-grandchildren, Kara Collins, Caden Collins, Jace Collins, Owen Cordner, Emily Cordner, Aubrey Logan and Madilyn Logan; one brother, Robert Logan; and two sisters, Marian Wanstreet and Martha Baynum.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law, one sister and two brothers.

LOGAN — Friends of Ralph M. Logan, who died Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Masonic services will be at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday by the Victory Lodge 694.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Ledford officiating. Military honors will be performed by the VFW 249 and the American Legion 778 posts.The family gives a special thanks to the amazing and compassionate caregivers of the Cardinal Place at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the Westminster PCA, 420 N.
