Trojans lock up conference title

CWNC improves record to 8-0 with win over Canevin

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic clinched the Black Hills Conference title with a dominating defense performance in a 20-0 win over Bishop Canevin Friday at Mars.

Trojans quarterback Erick Taylor threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Weathers and also scored on a 45-yard run.

Keith Wells also scored on a 20-yard run in the first half for North Catholic (8-0, 7-0).

The win marked the fourth consecutive conference title for the Trojans, who reached the WPIAL semifinals last season.

Sharon 44, Slippery Rock 0 — The Rockets (4-4, 3-3) finished with 71 total yards in this region loss.

Andrew Tomko threw for 216 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 88 yards and three scores for Sharon.

Hickory 42, Grove City 6 — Justin Orlowski scored on a 44-yard run for the Eagles' lone touchdown. Grove City fell to 1-7 overall, 1-5 in region play.

West Shamokin 42, Summit Academy 20 — The Knights fell to 0-8 with an Allegheny Conference loss to the Wolves.

Ridgway 14, Union 0 — Andy Brier returned an interception 59 yards to get Ridgway on the board in the first quarter.

Dugan Gallagher paced the Golden Knights with 75 yards on 18 carries.

Cole Morris caught five passes for 74 yards.

Brookville 14, A-C Valley 8 — The Falcons made the Raiders work, but couldn't prevent themselves from falling to 0-8.

A-C Valley has now lost 30 consecutive games.

Two goals from Alexander Crilley and Tyler Murphy helped Seneca Valley top Shaler 8-1 at the Baierl Ice Complex.

Dylan Sloat made 37 saves to help the Raiders improve to 3-1.
