Butler man charged with sexual assault on teen

Chase Perry

SUMMIT TWP — A Butler man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old township girl he met on Facebook.

State police Tuesday arrested Chase R. Perry, 22, on charges that he had sex with the girl several times between December 2014 and May.

The investigation began Sept.1 when the child’s mother notified authorities after finding an illicit image on her daughter’s Apple iPod, police said.

The girl was initially interviewed by a Butler County Alliance for Children staff member, and she admitted she met Perry in October 2014 when he contacted her via Facebook.

She said she told him that she was 13 years old, according to court documents. He claimed to be 16.

The two eventually saw one another after Christmas when she climbed out of her bedroom window and met him in his car, the girl recounted. The two had sex that night and she returned home through her window, documents said.

She told investigators that during the next several months she and Perry had sex on five occasions. Those late-night encounters came after she managed to sneak out of her home, documents said.

Her sexual contact with Perry ended in May, she said, after she learned on social media that he was 22 years old.

Police on Sept. 4 interviewed Perry, who admitted he met her several times for sex.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton on Tuesday arraigned Perry on felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault.

He is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.
