Butler County Historical Society's Senator Walter Lowrie House Museum isclosed in October to set up a Civil War in Pennsylvania exhibit.

The Old Stone House hosts its “Spooky Stories” Halloween festivities from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 22 and 23 with storytelling by Joanna Demarest, Alan Irvine, and Marsha Wong. Festivities will include historical reenactments and family-focused activities. The program Oct. 23 will include the annual costume contest for children 10 and younger. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children, but no more than $15 for a family. The Old Stone House at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528 is owned and managed by Slippery Rock University. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., will host its annual Pumpkin Pancake Brunch Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Stewart Hall. Cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children under 10. Guided museum tours are available from 1 to 4 p.m., for which admission is charged.

National Aviary, 700 Arch St., features creatures of the night at Owl-O-Ween, its annual harvest festival celebration, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17, 24, and 31. Center admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $6 for children ages 6 to 17. Admission for active and retired military is $6.
