Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, hosts “Creatures of the Night,” a non-scary autumn trek through the park at night Oct. 30. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. On Saturday, the center will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition with kayak trips on Slippery Rock Creek from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Bus tours are set at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. of abandoned mine drainage passive treatment systems. A star party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh is to begin, weather permitting, at 6:40 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park near Russellton. Call 724-224-2510.
