The Musical Theatre Guild presents “Rent” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community.

Butler Ghost Walk returnsThe Butler Ghost Walk will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31.This 60-minute event begins in Butler’s Diamond Park directly across from the Butler County Courthouse.The event takes spectators on a 60-minute guided walking tour of Diamond Park and the adjacent Historic Main Street business district.Participants will hear about the ghosts from Butler’s historic past through tour guide Bill May’s stories of Sam Mohawk, ghosts of the old hospital, the haunted elevator, the Chinese laundry murder, and the phantom Civil War regiment, among others.Reservations are required and can be made by calling 724-256-9026 or sending e-mail to butlerghostwalk@gmail.com. Cost is $10 per person.Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

‘Messiah’ practice beginsNEW CASTLE — Rehearsals have begun for the 75th annual presentation of George Handel’s sacred oratorio, “Messiah,” by the New Castle Music Club Chorus.Butler County residents participating include Harry Cunningham, director, and Sharon Perschke, flute player.The presentation will take place at 3 p.m. Nov. 29 at St. Vitus Roman Catholic Parish, 910 S.
