State orders Glade Run to close after child sex abuse probe

ZELIENOPLE — Glade Run Lutheran Services' license has been revoked by the state Department of Human Services, which ordered it to close its facilities in 30 days.

That action was announced today by the department,

The revoking comes after a two-month investigation by the state agency for child-on-child sexual abuse involving several youths.

Glade Run is a residential treatment facility that serves children and adolescents diagnosed with mental health conditions.

This order covers just one of the four child residential facilities on the campus. The other three will keep their licenses.

Police and Child Line agents conducted forensic interviews with the youths involved and with Glade Run faculty.

DHS Secretary Ted Dallas said in the news release, “Our number one priority must always be the health and safety of the children that we serve. We will never hesitate to act when child safety is at risk and today's actions are a reminder that we must always remain vigilant.”

The facility will close to “ensure an orderly transition for the children currently served at the facility,” release states.

Glade Run has the right to appeal the department's decision.
