The Steelers have signed free agent place kicker Chris Boswell and released Josh Scobee.

The news comes two days after Scobee missed two field goals in the 23-20 overtime loss to the Ravens Thursday.

The Steelers traded away a sixth-round draft choice for Scobee before the season began and are on the hook for his salary for the remainder of the season. Scobeee missed four of his 10 attempts and also missed an extra point.

Boswell has never kicked in a regular-season game. He spent the 2014 camp with the Houston Texans and was with the Giants this summer.
