BUTLER TWP — Alexis Schrecongost tallied 14 kills, 15 digs and nine aces Friday night as Butler County Community College edged Mercyhurst North East, 3-2, in volleyball.

The Pioneers (13-4) won the match 25-5, 25-14, 22-25, 25-27, 15-11. Baylee Verner had 14 kills and eight digs, Christina Davis nine blocks and Lexie Graham added 43 assists.

BC3 hosts Penn Highlands at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The game will be “Dig Pink” Night.

Smaldino leads GCC golfBELLE VERNON — Butler graduate and Grove City College sophomore golfer Anthony Smaldino carded a 77 Friday to help the Wolverines assume a one-stroke lead in the first round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Men's Golf Championship.Grove City shot a 312 as a team at Cedarbrook Golf Course.Saint Vincent is in second place.
