Program introduces kids to engineering

CRANBERRY TWP — Engineering for Kids, a company partnering with the Cranberry Township Parks and Recreation Department, gives children a chance to have a hands-on introduction to the concepts of aerospace engineering and electrical engineering at the municipal center.

Engineering for Kids, which is a Virgina-based franchise educational company, has sessions designed to bring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to youths through classes, camps, clubs and parties.

The aerospace program will be from 6 to 7 p.m. beginning Oct. 14 for four consecutive sessions. The electrical engineering program is six 90-minute sessions starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Program fees for Cranberry residents are $110 and $165. Nonresidents pay $5 more.

Registration is available online at www.cranberrytownship.org/resister, by phone at 724-779-4386 or in person at the parks service desk in the municipal center.

Two other programs already are under way.

Junior Aerospace Engineering for children ages 4 through 7 explores the fundamental concepts of aircraft and space design.

Electrical Engineering for children age 8 to 15 introduces the concepts of circuit design, construction and maintenance.

A guide with preschool, fitness classes and more is online at www.cranberrytownship.org/programs.
