[naviga:h3]Central Electric elects officers[/naviga:h3]

PARKER — The Central Electric Cooperative board in September elected these officers:

Jody Weaver, president. He has been a board member from Clarion County since 2008 and a member since 1976.

Kenneth Durrett, vice president. He has been a board member from Butler County since 2009, and a member since 1996.

Althea Smith, secretary/treasurer. She has been a board member from Venango County since 1995 and a member since 1979.

Also, the board elected these members to represent the cooperative:

Richard Weaver to serve as the Allegheny Electric Cooperative director. He has been a board member since 1988 from Clarion County and a member since 1978.

Bette Walters to serve as the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association director. She has been a board member since 1988 from Forest County and a member since 1977.

Central Electric serves about 25,000 customers in portions of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Mercer and Venango counties.

[naviga:h3]Farmers National redeems stock[/naviga:h3]

EMLENTON — The Emclaire Financial Corp, the parent company of The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton, announced that it has redeemed all $5 million of its remaining preferred stock that had been issued to the U.S. Treasury Department in August 2011 through the Small Business Lending Fund (SBLF) program.

“We are pleased to announce our exit from the SBLF program,” said William Marsh, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the company and the bank.

“The SBLF program and its predecessor U.S. Treasury investment under TARP were constructive capital sources for the company and the bank as we expanded into new markets, continued to promote small business lending and otherwise grew our banking franchise.”

[naviga:h3]Honda will fix software in recall[/naviga:h3]

TORRANCE, Calif. — Honda is recalling 143,000 Civic and Fit vehicles in the U.S. to fix a software problem that could cause the front wheels to lock up.

The recall announced Thursday is for the 2014 and 2015 model years for the Honda Civic and the 2015 model for the Fit.

Recall notices are expected to be sent to affected customers in mid-October. More information can be obtained at www.recalls.honda.com.

[naviga:h3]Mortgage rates take a tumble[/naviga:h3]

WASHINGTON — Average long-term U.S. mortgage rates eased slightly this week. Mortgage giant Freddie Mac said Thursday the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage declined to 3.85 percent from 3.86 percent a week earlier.
