Frazetta joins WPIAL golf finals

Mickey Frazetta became the first Freeport male golfer to advance to the PIAA finals by shooting a 78 at the WPIAL Class AA Finals at Allegheny Country Club Thursday afternoon.

Frazetta shot an even-par 35 on the back-nine to help him to a seventh-place finish, five strokes off the pace of Jason Li of Sewickley Academy, who won the event.

Frazetta's 35 tied a career low for nine holes.

Tam O'Shanter Invitational — Butler's Nic Leone shot a 74 to place second, one stroke behind Zach Ford of Meadville at Tam O'Shanter.

Meadville placed first as a team.

Behind three golfers in the Top 10, Slippery Rock placed second, 15 strokes off the Bulldogs' pace.

Collin Hyatt led the Rockets with an 80 to finish fifth. Sam Isacco shot an 81 to finish eighth and Ken Rall an 82 to come in ninth for Slippery Rock.

FootballLane Chalmers had 10 carries for 123 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown run, but A-C Valley (0-5) dropped a 40-12 decision at Clarion-Limestone.Eric Pirl scored on a 24-yard run for the Falcons and led the team with seven tackles and one assist. A-C Valley trailed only 18-12 in the third quarter before C-L quarterback Anthony Louder scored on an 8-yard run.Louder added two touchdown passes in the final quarter. He threw for 130 yards and three scores on the night.
