Testa goal stands up for Raiders

SV girls nip Pine-Richland, 1-0; Mars wins big against Highlands

Cassidy Testa scored the goal that got the Seneca Valley girls soccer team back on track in the Raiders' 1-0 win Wednesday night over Pine-Richland on the road.

Testa's goal helped avenge one of Seneca Valley's earlier Section 2-AAA losses. The Raiders improved to 8-2 overall, 5-2 in section.

Seneca Valley is now one game behind the Rams (7-1-1, 6-1).

Mars 7, Highlands 1 — Tori Kopchak (four), Erin Posey (two) and Dillon Wright all scored goals to propel Mars to a Section 2-AA win.

The Planets improved to 9-1 overall, 8-0 in section.

Freeport 4, Valley 3 — Cameron Lindsay scored two goals to spark the Yellowjackets to a Section 2-AA win.

Piper Claypool and Victoria Dell also scored for Freeport (6-3, 5-2). Olivia Gasperic set up two of the Yellowjackets' goals, while Kaylee Competatore assisted on the other.

Boys Golf

Adam Bushee shot a 2-under par 33 at Cranberry Highland to help Seneca Valley take down Shaler 197-206.

The Raiders wrapped up their dual season with a 9-3 record.

Shaler (206): John Romanowski 37, Will Nichols 41, Nick Cabinsini 41, Tanner Grezgorski 43, Luke O'Donnell 44.

Seneca Valley (197): Bushee 33, Andy Smathers 37, Mark McNulty 40, Tyler Leak 41, Garrett Schlick 46.

Highlands 215, Freeport 221 — Justin Hildebrand shot a 3-over par 39 to lead Freeport during the Yellowjackets' 215-221 loss to Highlands at Saxon Golf Course.

It was the first section loss for Freeport (14-3, 10-1).

Freeport (221): Hildebrand 39, Mickey Frazetta 41, Brendan Aber 46, Denny Wuyscik 46, TJ Pascucci 49.

Highlands (215): Andrew McCoy 37, Tristian Kelly 39, Jason Beer 44, Nate Kendra 47, Jake Hughes 48.

Girls Volleyball

Katie Stumpner recorded six digs and five kills to help A-C Valley sweep Venango Catholic 25-11, 25-13, 25-10.

Sydney Rankin led the Falcons (9-0) with nine assists, while Dori Kralj had 10 service points and Haylee Wetzel added six kills.
