Police seek leads in attempted strong-arm robbery

MUDDY CREEK TWP — State police are seeking information about a reported strong-armed robbery attempt this week at the Pilot gas station and truck stop on Route 422.

A woman trucker from Alabama told police that a man with a knife attacked her in the rear parking lot about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday as she was inspecting her trailer.

She said the man held the knife to her throat, and at one point she nearly passed out when he choked her with some kind of a cord while demanding money, according to Trooper Cody Spangler.

When the man realized she had no money, he threw her to the ground and punched her several times before fleeing. the 40-year-old woman said.

She was unable to get a good look at the man and could not provide police with a description of him.

Police said the woman, who waited about four hours before reporting the incident, appeared to have minor to moderate injuries including bruises to her face, arms and chest,

She had a 2- to 3-inch mark on her neck “consistent with a rope burn,” Spangler said.

She refused medical treatment.

No one saw the reported attack and there are no surveillance cameras outside the store.

Spangler said the woman did not report what happened until about 10:30 p.m., after an employee at the store convinced her to call police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
