Bushee joins finals

Raider golfer makes WPIAL cut by 1 stroke

Seneca Valley's Adam Bushee shot a 76 at The Links at Spring Church to advance to the WPIAL Finals next week.

Bushee, who finished 11th, was the only Butler County area golfer in Class AAA to advance.

The cut was 77.

Cross CountryNick Shea and Tabitha Donaldson both placed second to lead Slippery Rock's boys and girls to wins of 22-36 and 24-37, respectively, over Sharon.The meet was held on a shortened course because of the wet weather. Girls SoccerHunter Dittman scored on a header following a corner kick with seven seconds left to lift Karns City to a 3-2 win at Wilmington.Haley Scherer and Megan McCartney also scored for the perfect Gremlins (9-0).

Boys SoccerRyan Purvis scored twice in Slippery Rock's 6-0 triumph over Franklin.Also finding the net for the Rockets (6-2, 3-0) were Chase Gill, Nick Stutz, Luke Barnhart and Matt Dempsey.

Girls TennisButler's No. 2 doubles tandem of Jill Ford and Andrea Malacaman won their first round section doubles match 10-1 over Baylee Marta and Rachel Beck of Shaler but fell in the second round.Ford and Malacaman lost to the No. 1 seeded-North Allegheny tandem of Tina Li and Ashley Huang.Butler's No. 1 tandem of Mercedes Belch and Sydney Hanratty lost in the first round.
