Butler PoliceWednesday — An arrest warrant was issued for Samantha B. Miller, 21, no known address, who is accused of forging four stolen checks that were stolen earlier this month from a home in the 300 block of Third Street.The checks, stolen between Sept. 2 and 7, were cashed for a combined $330, court documents said.Miller, who is homeless, is charged with forgery, a felony, and misdemeanor theft.10:10 p.m. Sept. 21 — Jason J. Yearick, 36, of Center Township was caught allegedly throwing garbage on a sport utility vehicle in the 200 block of Walker Avenue. Police said when they found the suspect he reeked of alcohol and appeared intoxicated, according to court documents.Yearick is charged with loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Harry W. Dodds, 68, of Butler was charged with drunken driving in connection with a suspected hit-and-run crash earlier this month at Route 8 south and Litman Road. Police said Dodds about 8 p.m. Sept. 6 ran into the back of another vehicle and did not stop. The other driver was not hurt.In addition to driving under the influence, Dodds is charged with hit-and-run.Wednesday — Police charged William D. Keller, 38, of Lyndora with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop at 11:08 a.m. Sept. 2 on Hansen Avenue.Keller is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled of substance, running a red light, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and careless driving.Wednesday — Daniel J. Cunningham, 29, of Butler was charged with drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop about 5:15 p.m. Aug. 13 on Highland Avenue.Cunningham is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, careless driving and failing to yield the right of way.

State Police, Butler4:26 p.m. Sunday — Police are seeking an unknown driver whose minivan caused a three-vehicle crash in Muddy Creek Township that left three people hurt, including one with serious injuries.The suspect was northbound on Route 19 when the older model, red Dodge Caravan turned left on Moraine Drive and into the path of a car driven by Thomas B. Ronan, 29, of Evans City.Ronan swerved his car to avoid the van and hit head-on another vehicle driven by Harry W. Smith, 71, of Florida. The van driver did not stop.Ronan and Smith, who were wearing seat belts, both suffered minor injuries. Ronan was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Smith’s passenger, Sondra L. Smith, 71, also of Florida, was flown by medical helicopter to an undisclosed Pittsburgh hospital. She was wearing a seat belt and suffered a major injury.The Portersville Volunteer Fire Department and Portersville and Slippery Rock EMS assisted at the scene.Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.4:15 a.m. Sunday — Heather N. Brinker, 22, of Slippery Rock was seriously injured when the car she was driving and a pickup truck collided on Route 8 just west of Pine Drive in Center Township.Police said Brinker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of her car following the collision that left the vehicle overturned. She was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with a “major injury,” according to a police report. Her condition was not known this morning.The other driver, Domenic M. DeAngelo, 19, of Butler, was not injured. Police said he was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.Sunday — Two handguns were stolen in a burglary at a home on Ash Stop Road in Forward Township. The unknown burglar broke a rear door to get inside the 58-year-old man’s house.Stolen was a Ruger .357-caliber revolver and a High Standard .22-caliber pistol. The break-in happened between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 5 p.m. Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call police.6:15 p.m. Friday — Rayvon O. Kyles, 24, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.8 a.m. Wednesday — Two women were hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Center Township.Patricia L. Stitt, 72, and her passenger, Audrey J. Hamilton, 46, both of West Sunbury, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.Police said Stitt was southbound on Route 308 when an unknown driver on Jamisonville Road turned in front of her sport utility vehicle. Stitt swerved to avoid the unidentified vehicle and lost control of her SUV, which hit an embankment and rolled onto its roof.The other vehicle did not stop. Unionville volunteer firefighters had to extricate Stitt and Hamilton from the SUV. Both women were wearing seat belts.Wednesday — Police charged Anthony M. Cousins, 23, of Prospect with agricultural vandalism for allegedly driving through a cornfield Sept. 12 or 13 on Grindel Road in Franklin Township.Sept. 21 — An unknown vandal “turfed” the lawn at Moniteau High School on Route 308 in Cherry Township. The vandalism happened between just after midnight and 6 a.m. The suspect vehicle is described as a gray quad-cab Chevrolet pickup truck.2:35 a.m. Sept. 17 — Dalasia Q. Fears, 23, of New Castle was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs at New Castle Street and Simon Lane in Slippery Rock Township.

State Police, FranklinSunday — An unknown thief stole a green Craftsman lawn mower from an open shed at a home on Route 208 in Scrubgrass Township. The lawn mower, valued at $500, was taken between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

State Police, KittanningThree drivers were arrested late Saturday or early Sunday for suspicion of driving under the influence at a sobriety checkpoint on Route 268 in East Franklin Township.The drivers are James P. Schawl II, 33, of Kittanning, Ronald J. Ruffaner, 45, of Kittanning, and Brian L. Johanson, 37, of Freeport.4:13 p.m. Saturday — Joel B. Walker, 29, of Templeton was arrested on two warrants after he was caught allegedly shoplifting a cell phone charger at the Walmart at Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Police said Walker faces a charge of retail theft.The defendant was later placed in the Armstrong County Jail on the warrants stemming from a burglary case and for a state parole violation.

State Police, Mercer8:16 p.m. Saturday — A Grove City woman was arrested but a man got away after they ran from police during a traffic stop in Springfield Township. Crystal L. Long, 39, is charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.Police said Long was riding in a vehicle driven by John R. Barlow Jr., no age given, which troopers pulled over for a traffic violation on Route 258 at School Road. Barlow, who has no known address, ran into a wooded area. Police searched but could not find him.Barlow faces a criminal charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police as well as unspecified traffic violations.
