Warriors seek win No. 1

CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau football team is in need of a spark.

Warriors' coach Wade Vogan is hoping a switch in the lineup provides just that.

Senior running back Wyatt Ifft and junior receiver Dalton Anderson will swap roles in Friday's home game against A-C Valley (0-3).

Moniteau is off to an 0-3 start, most recently a 24-10 loss at Port Allegany last week.

“We're trying to find the right mix of 11 guys,” said Vogan. “We need kids who will give 100 percent from the first quarter through the fourth.”

Ifft has rushed for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Anderson leads the team with 11 catches for 84 yards.

Vogan sees specific qualities in Anderson and hopes they can translate to the ground game.

“He has speed and can make moves,” he said. “We need to get the ball in his hands and let him be an athlete.”

Moniteau senior quarterback Derek Boben has passed for 379 yards and rushed for 235.

A-C Valley fell to Union last week 34-6 and has been outscored 121-13.

A-C Valley coach Brad Dittman could not be reached for comment.
