Police Taser woman during arrest Sunday

A Butler woman is accused of attacking two neighbors before kicking a city police officer in the groin.

Cortney A. Scott, 23, of Butler was arrested Sunday afternoon but not before she had to be Tasered, Butler police said.

Scott is being held in the Butler County Prison on three felony charges stemming from the weekend altercation at an apartment in the 400 block of East Locust Street.

Police allege the defendant walked into the home uninvited and began punching one woman there in the face.

When another woman tried to break up the fight, Scott also punched her and shoved her into the wall.

The first alleged victim had injuries including a cut lip and a swollen face. The second woman suffered a seizure and had to be treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Officers found Scott across the street in front of her home. She resisted police attempts to handcuff her, documents said, and kicked one of the officers in the groin, causing him pain.

The same officer deployed his Taser and the suspected was arrested.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Scott on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, burglary and trespass, all felonies.

Additionally, she is charged with two counts of simple assault and one count of resisting arrest. She was placed in the county prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.
