CRANBERRY TWP — Henry Pwono, a 2010 North Catholic graduate, has signed a professional basketball contract to play with Salon Vilpas in Finland.

The 6-foot-7 forward played for two years at East Central (Okla.) University following a stint at junior college.

Pwono helped the Trojans finish 28-3 and reach the PIAA Class AA title game.

“He was a gifted athlete,” North Catholic coach Dave Long said. “He was the man who gave us an inside presence, as well as other things. Everyone fell in love with him.”

CANTON, Ohio — Edward DeBartolo Jr., who as owner of the 49ers helped build one of the NFL's dynasties, is a finalist for the 2016 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor.

BOSTON — A ban on smokeless tobacco products at Fenway Park and other Boston sports venues was approved by the City Council.Boston becomes the second city after San Francisco to approve such a ban. Los Angeles also is weighing a prohibition.
