Butler PoliceTuesday — Police filed a misdemeanor theft charge against Delmar E. Silk, 56, of Butler, accusing him of stealing $290 in property, including a digital camera and gift cards, from an unlocked car at the Butler Memorial Hospital parking lot Aug. 18 or 19Monday — Zachary M. Booher, 21, of Butler was charged with breaking into at least two vehicles on or around Aug. 19 on the city’s East End. A report of a theft of five musical compact discs from an unlocked car on Oak Street started the investigation.Police eventually identified Booher as the suspected thief and his juvenile girlfriend as his lookout. He allegedly admitted to entering about 30 vehicles on streets including Oak, East Pearl, Franklin, Elm, Howard and East Fulton.Booher turned over to police a bag containing the items he took, documents said. The stolen property, valued at $1,655, included a Dell computer and an Apple iPod. Additionally, he admitted collecting about $45 in change from the vehicles. Police said he acknowledged having spent that money.He is charged with theft from a vehicle, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. It was not immediately known if police charged the girl.8:44 p.m. Sunday — Nicholas W. Pipher, 23, of Butler was caught driving a vehicle with a fraudulent out-of-state license plate following a traffic stop on the 400 block of West Wayne Street. Police said they pulled over his car for having a studded right front tire.A check later showed the Connecticut plate on his car was not valid. Police charged Pipher with using a bogus license plate, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving with an improper tire.

Grove City Police7:13 p.m. Monday — Wayne J. Carlson, 57, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife at the Park Motel on West Main Street, where the couple had been living. Carlson was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Mercer County Jail on $15,000 bail following arraignment.

State Police, ButlerMonday — Police charged Scott M. Christofferson, 54, of Ellwood City with being more than three times over the legal limit for alcohol when the pickup truck he was driving in July ran out of gas in the middle of Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township.An officer from the Meadville barracks about 3:45 p.m. July 16 came upon the pickup stopped in the southbound lane just south of Keister Road. Christofferson was in the driver’s seat and talking on his cell phone.The officer smelled a “strong odor” of alcohol coming from Christofferson. The suspect admitted he had consumed two beers about an hour ago.Police subsequently took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.262 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Christofferson is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.Monday — Anna K. Genzoli, 43, of Slippery Rock was charged with DUI stemming from a traffic stop at 10:20 p.m. Aug. 2 at a fast food restaurant parking lot on South Main Street in Slippery Rock.Genzoli appeared to be impaired and police detected a “faint odor” of alcohol on her breath. She denied drinking any alcohol that night.Police eventually arrested her for suspicion of drunken driving but she refused to submit to a blood test at Butler Memorial Hospital.In addition to DUI, Genzoli is charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and careless driving.

State Police, Franklin8:03 a.m. Tuesday — A 5-year-old girl was hurt when a sport utility vehicle she was riding in overturned in Irwin Township. The crash happened when the driver, Christie M. McFarland, 42, of Slippery Rock traveled into a ditch and struck a culvert on Route 8 just west of Duncan Road.The girl, who police did not identify, was in a child safety seat. Police cited McFarland for disregarding traffic lanes.11:48 p.m. Monday — Sandra L. McGinty, 73, of Slippery Rock suffered minor injuries when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and struck a stone wall along Route 8 just east of Means Drive in Sandycreek Township.McGinty, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC Northwest in Seneca following the accident. Police cited her for disregarding traffic lanes.
