Butler Police1:43 a.m. Monday — Anthony A. Elesser, 48, was arrested after he allegedly bit his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at his apartment in the 100 block of West New Castle Street.Police said when they got to the home they found Elesser, who appeared intoxicated, and Jodi Wyant, whose left hand was covered in blood. She had bite marks on three of her fingers.The defendant told officers that he bit Wyant’s hand after she slapped his face.Elesser was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.Friday — Jared T. Biedenbach, 18, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop about 3:35 a.m. Aug. 12 on North Monroe Street.Police said when they got to the car they smelled a “strong odor,” of burned marijuana. Biedenbach, who appeared to be impaired, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Toxicology reports later show he had marijuana and amphetamine in his system.Biedenbach is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and disobeying a traffic control device.Friday — Police charged Eric J. Zmijowski, 34, of Butler with misdemeanor drug possession following his arrest Aug. 25 on a bench warrant. Officers picked him up after he was spotted walking in the 300 block of West Penn Street.A search turned up one stamp bag and two empty bags of suspected heroin in one of Zmijowski’s pockets. Police said they also found a syringe and two Suboxone strips in his back pack.Zmijowski is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Adam Twp PoliceThursday — Bryan J. Stein, 23, of Center Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop about 8:50 p.m. June 29 on Union Church Road.Police said they pulled over Stein’s 1996 Jeep Cherokee for going 65 mph in a 35 mph zone. Officers reportedly smelled burned marijuana when they got to the vehicle. The also found him with a suspected marijuana, a grinder and glass smoking pipe.Stein was later taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a blood test. Recently received toxicology reports showed he had THC, the hallucinogenic chemical in marijuana, in his system.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Stein is charged with speeding, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Butler Twp Police9:31 a.m. Sunday — Bryan J. Stein, 23, of Center Township was caught with suspected marijuana and drug contraband following a traffic stop on Seneca Drive near Route 356.Police said they found a small baggie, a marijuana pipe, rolling papers and a metal grinder in the side case of the motorcycle that Stein was driving. The bag was later determined to contain 6 grams of what police believe to be marijuana.Stein is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle without inspection, driving a motorcycle without protective equipment and driving with a faulty exhaust system.2:29 a.m. Sunday — Two suspected drunken men caused a traffic disturbance on New Castle Road. The pair — Alexander J. Sovek, 25, and William S. Crookshank, 25, both of Butler — were allegedly spotted on the road screaming profanities at passing motorists. Both men were cited for public drunkenness.5:45 a.m. Friday — An unknown driver is being sought in a hit-and-run crash on Whippo Avenue near White Avenue. The suspect vehicle is a dark gray car, believed to be a 2005 to 2008 Toyota, possibly a Corolla or Camry.The car was traveling west on Whippo Avenue when the driver lost control and slid through a section of the lawn behind the Sunnyview complex. The car went airborne over an embankment and crashed into a Jeep Cherokee that was parked in a driveway. The suspect managed to drive away in the car. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 724-285-9600, or 911.2:09 a.m. Friday — Rebekah Sample, 22, of Butler was hurt in a one-vehicle crash on Litman Road near Green Acres. She lost control of her car and struck an embankment before becoming airborne. The vehicle landed on its side.Sample was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries that were not considered life threatening. She was cited for unspecified traffic violations.

State Police, ButlerSunday — Police issued seven tickets to John E. Kuhn, 55, of West Sunbury stemming from a one-vehicle wreck last week in Clay Township. The crash happened Aug. 25 when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle on Route 308 just north of Renick Road in Clay TownshipThe SUV barrel-rolled two times before ending in the middle of the road. Kuhn left the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Two days later, he turned himself in at the barracks in Butler Township.Police cited Kuhn for failing to immediately notify police of an accident, failing to stop and give information after an accident, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, abandoning a vehicle on the road, and a hazard signal light violation.Thursday — A vandal damaged a garage “man door” and window at a home on Route 8 in Mercer Township. The vandalism happened between April 23 and Thursday.

State Police, Mercer11 p.m. Saturday — Two boys escaped from the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township, Mercer County. The youths, who police did not identify, were later found and returned to the facility.Aug. 19 — Police filed charges in Mercer County juvenile court against two boys accused of leaving the George Junior Republic on Aug. 17 and later stealing a pair of scissors from the Walmart store in Pine Township, Mercer County.Authorities found the boys nearby at Route 208 and North Liberty Road in Pine Township. The suspects, who were not identified, are each charged with escape and theft.
