Seven Fields celebration new to Sept.

Carnival moved from end of June

SEVEN FIELDS — Residents will have a chance to celebrate the end of summer at the Seven Fields 6th annual Community Day Carnival.

The carnival starts Wednesday at the Seven Fields Town Park and run until Saturday night.

Borough manager Tom Smith said the carnival has grown each year.

“Overall we are looking to continue the community tradition for the folks, and hopefully they enjoy it for themselves and their family and friends,” he said.

Smith said the carnival is a place where parents can drop off their children and friends to go on rides. Police will be present there.

The carnival will have rides, games and food.

Rides and concessions will open at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

On Friday. there will be live music by High Road Easy from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, rides will be open in two sessions from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. There also will be a car cruise at Phoenix Plaza from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Seven Fields Borough Carnival Dinner will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Live music will be provided by Tobacco Road from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Saturday there will be a fireworks show.

Ride tickets are available at the town park swimming pool and at the borough office. Ride tickets are $1 each, a daily ride pass is $16 and a festival pass is $49.

Smith said for being such a small community, there has been great success with the fireworks, the dinner and the sponsors, who have been “gracious” to help defray the cost of the fireworks.

“The borough council members, they look at it almost as a way to give back to the community to create memories for residents,” Smith said.

The carnival was moved from the end of June to September so it would be held in conjunction with Labor Day, he said.

Smith hopes the change will increase attendance since it is not competing with people on vacation.

“Kids are back in school now, and primarily with Labor Day people stay home,” he said. “We are going to see if this is something that will stick.”
