BUTLER TWP — Freeport graduate Alexis Schrecengost was named tournament MVP as Butler County Community College opened its women's volleyball season by winning its Early Bird Kickoff Tournament Saturday.

Schrecengost had 16 kills and 26 digs in the Pioneers' four matches.

BC3 defeated Cecil College 25-18, 25-13, Allegany (Md.) College 25-18, 25-13, Jamestown Community College 25-22, 25-21 and Beaver County 25-5, 25-11.

Christina Davis and Macy Smolic made the all-tournament team for the Pioneers. Smolic, also from Freeport, had 14 kills and seven blocks. Davis, from Ford City, had 12 kills and 11 blocks.

Knoch graduate Lexi Graham had 28 assists while Butler grad Baylee Verner tallied 19 assists and eight kills.

Now 4-0, BC3 travels to Penn State Beaver on Friday.
