Butler PoliceThursday — David Ray Davenport III, 44, was arrested a day after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at their Shady Avenue home.Davenport was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and later placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.Police were initially called Wednesday night to Butler Memorial Hospital, where Richelle Rice was treated in the emergency room for injuries suffered in the suspected domestic assault.Rice told police that Davenport grabbed her by the neck, picked her up and threw her to the floor, fracturing three of her ribs, according to court documents.Thursday — Police identified the man and boy injured about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a sport utility vehicle at East Wayne and South McKean streets.John R. Fosnaught Jr., 52, and John Ray Fosnaught, 14, both of Butler were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. The boy was wearing a helmet; the elder Fosnaught was not. Nikki K. Macurdy, 22, of Cabot was driving the SUV.12:12 p.m. Aug. 14 — One person was hurt in a chain-reaction accident that occurred when an SUV driven by Ruth C. Wetzel, 64, of Jefferson Township rear-ended a pickup truck stopped in traffic on West New Castle Street at North Sixth Avenue.The collision forced the pickup driven by Bruce Nist, 64, of Pittsburgh, into the back of a car driven by Kristofer N. Beblo, 41, of Butler Township. In turn, the car was pushed into the back of a car driven by Charles A. Rau, 61, of Slippery Rock. Beblo and Rau also were both stopped at the time.Charla Nist 60, of Pittsburgh, a passenger in the pickup, was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with unknown injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. Police cited Wetzel for careless driving.6:15 a.m. Aug. 7 — Cars driven by Brianna N. Reed, 16, and Dawn M. Nickleach, 28, both of Butler Township collided on North Monroe Street. Nickleach, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. The collision happened when the girl pulled out from the North Monroe Street laundry mat.

Butler Twp Police3:21 p.m. Wednesday — A 7-year-old boy was hurt in a three-vehicle wreck on Route 68.The chain-reaction crash began when a car driven by Nicole E. Brown, 31, of Butler struck the back of a sport utility vehicle driven by Lori Hoffman, 49, of Worthington, Armstrong County, which was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Campus Lane.In turn, the collision forced Hoffman’s vehicle into the back of a minivan driven by Nicholas Headley, 27, of Butler, which also was stopped at the light. The child, who was riding in Brown’s vehicle, suffered a minor injury.5:43 p.m. Tuesday — Joseph R. Brandon, 28, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 422. In addition to DUI, Brandon was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.1:26 p.m. Tuesday — Tasha M. Robinson, 23, of Petrolia was caught with several stamp bags of suspected heroin and a syringe after suffering a suspected overdose at Litman Grove Apartments. Police said she was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Grove City Police6:17 a.m. Wednesday — Kenneth Mesmer, 33, of Jackson Center was hurt when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Kinder Avenue just north of West Main Street. He was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.Police cited Mesmer for careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.Tuesday — A 2007 Dodge Caliber was reported stolen from the parking lot at Filer Auto Body on Breckenridge Street. The keys were in the car when it was taken, according to a police report. There are no suspects.Aug. 21 — A pair of black Nike sunglasses was stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of Spring Street, said police, who received the report at 8 p.m. Friday.Aug. 21 — Someone stole Grove City football jerseys with the number 35 on them from a vehicle in the 300 block of West Poplar Street.

Butler County Drug Task Force8:08 p.m. Wednesday — Craig T. Taylor, 25, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly sold heroin and crack cocaine to an undercover officer in Butler. Taylor is accused of using a telephone to set up the deal at West Wayne Street.Investigators said the suspect sold 10 bags of heroin and a rock of crack. Taylor was arraigned on felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility.Additionally, he is charged with misdemeanor drug possession. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.Butler police and state narcotics officers assisted the county drug task in the joint operation.

State Police ClarionWednesday — Police charged Andrew C. Fink, 25, of Chicora in connection with the sale of a boat in East Brady last month.On July 5, Fink sold a 1981 Rinker boat and a 1983 Shore Lander boat trailer to a 53-year-old woman for $1,200. The sale was made at the woman’s home. Fink transferred the trailer title into the woman’s name.However, according to a police report, he did not transfer the boat title into her name. He is charged with a felony theft by deception and a summary count of failing to deliver the boat title.

State Police, Mercer12:15 a.m. Sunday — James W. Daw, 37, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a guardrail on Route 422 just east of Church Street in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
