Man faces parole, probation if released

A Butler man likely will be released from prison Sept. 7 on a handful of cases related to an alleged attack on his girlfriend in January.

Court records say Justin M. Castilyn, 36, has been in prison since being arrested on allegations he assaulted Brandi Sue Antonelli during a domestic dispute at their apartment in the 400 block of West Cunningham Street.

Court records allege Castilyn choked Antonelli. The argument started when Castilyn made a derogatory comment about her 8-year-old son, who is autistic.

The defendant pleaded guilty to simple assault in that case, and was sentenced to serve 11½ to 23 months in prison.

While incarcerated, officials alleged Castilyn called Antonelli from a jailhouse telephone, which was a violation of the terms of a temporary Protection From Abuse court order.

During the calls, which were audio taped, Castilyn allegedly urged the woman not to testify in the original case.

Castilyn was sentenced to 6 months in prison on the PFA violation, and 9 to 23 months in prison on a charge of obstruction of justice.

Finally, Castilyn was sentenced to 4 years of probation for violating parole on a 2008 forgery case.

As part of the defendant’s agreement with the Butler County District Attorney’s Office, all of the cases will run simultaneously with a combined, early parole date of Sept. 7. After he completes his parole time, the probation segment of his sentence will begin.

As part of the agreement, between now and his release, Castilyn must avoid further trouble and develop a life plan for his release.

Butler County Judge Timothy McCune, who sentenced Castilyn, warned him to make the most of his clean slate.

“I’ll try my best, your honor,” said Castilyn.

Castilyn has been known for running a controversial Internet website.
