Woman injured when car, tanker truck collide

SUMMIT TWP — One woman was injured this morning when her car and a tanker truck ran into each other at the intersection of Routes 68 and 38.

The crash took place at about 6:50 a.m. The woman, who was not identified, was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Captain Don McCoy of the Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Company said the extent of her injuries were unknown. Two children were in the car, but McCoy said they did not appear to be injured. The driver of the truck — which was hauling water — was not injured, he said.

The vehicles appeared to be traveling in the same direction, McCoy said, and the car hit the driver’s side of the truck. The car sustained front end damage. The truck’s fuel tank had some damage, but did not leak.

State police are investigating the accident.
