Knoch golfers set team record in loss to P-R

Butler's Nic Leone is one of the top golfers the Golden Tornado will be counting on this season.

The Knoch boys golf team set a school record by shooting a score of 185 at Saxon Golf Course Monday afternoon, but fell to Pine-Richland by four strokes.

Christian Evanchec shot a 34 to pace the Knights, who had four golfers fire sub-40 scores.

Region 5 Mega Match — Slippery Rock's Josh Bowser earned medalist honors with a 76 as the Rockets claimed the Region 5 Mega Match at Oakview Golf Club.

Slippery Rock finished with a team score of 318, a total of 32 strokes ahead of second-place Franklin.

Grove City finished in fourth place with a 359.

Butler 167, Shaler 189 — The Golden Tornado were led by Hannah Folk and Liz Rakers, who both shot a 40.

Folk also shot a 41 in a 183-236 victory over Kiski Area on Saturday.
