Butler Police11:38 p.m. Sunday — An 18-year-old Butler man was injured in a suspected assault at the Cunningham Shanor building at New Castle Street and Fifth Avenue. The man told police that an unknown suspect pushed him down and kicked him in the face. The victim suffered a cut above the right eye. His eyeglasses were also broken. Police said the man was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for unspecified injuries.9:52 p.m. Sunday — Michael G. Watt, 39, of Butler was arrested for public drunkenness after he was found passed out in front of the Marathon store on South Main Street. Police said they placed him in the holding cell until he sobered up.1:11 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Mary R. McMullen, 17, of Prospect rear-ended a pickup truck on West New Castle Street between Hansen and North Ninth avenues. Harlan E. Wible was driving the pickup.9:15 p.m. Saturday — Benjamin Lee Cahall, 33, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant on South Monroe Street. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.2:45 a.m. Saturday — Wyatt B. McCauley, 44, of Butler was arrested on bench warrants out of Butler and Allegheny counties after he turned himself in to authorities at the police station on West New Castle Street. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrants.10:10 p.m. Friday — Nicholas J. Rodgers, 26, faces a misdemeanor drug charge after he suffered an apparent heroin overdose at his home in the 400 block of Mitchell Avenue.Medical crews for Butler Ambulance Service and the Butler Fire Department found Rodgers unconscious and laying face down in vomit in a second-floor bedroom, according to a police report. Police said they also found a syringe and spoon with suspected heroin residue. Medics revived Rodgers using the heroin antidote Narcan. He was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Police said he faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.9:47 p.m. Friday — Frank J. Koller Jr., 50, of Sarver was arrested on charges of driving under the influence on Route 8 south. Police said a breath test later showed Koller’s blood-alcohol level was 0.189 percent, more than double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit. In addition to DUI, he faces a ticket for disregarding traffic lanes.Friday — An unidentified vehicle struck the rear bumper of a 48-year-old Renfrew man’s sport utility vehicle on North Main Street in front of the Penn Theater. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash.4:35 p.m. Aug. 18 — One person was hurt in a three- vehicle wreck on Hansen Avenue between Fairground Hill Road and Austin Avenue.The crash happened when a pickup truck driven by Alec J. Barbella, 19, rear ended a car driven by Hope E. Poling, 28, both of Lyndora. An SUV driven by Lisa M. Kelly, 44, of Harrisville was unable to stop in time and struck the back of the pickup.Police said Barbella fled the scene. Kelly, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.2 p.m. Aug. 13 — James T. Matuke III, 26, of Butler was arrested on a warrant after a traffic stop on Pillow Street. A search turned up several syringes and a crack pipe. Police charged Matuke with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.11:41 a.m. Aug. 13 — Wendy Sue Meyers, 27, of Butler allegedly helped herself to an Ace bandage at the Rite Aid store on South Main Street. Police said store surveillance video showed Myers walking into the store, sitting down and placing the bandage on her knee. She left the store without paying for the $9 item. She is charged with retail theft.6:58 p.m. Aug. 9 — Tony S. Osborne, 24, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting two boxes of Rogaine at the Kmart store at Pullman Square. The merchandise is valued at a combined $106. Osborne is charged with retail theft.2:12 p.m. Aug. 9 — Amanda N. Bennett, 24, of Butler was caught with a suspected heroin shooting kit in the center console of a car following a traffic stop on West Penn Street. Police stopped the car as part of an unrelated hit-and-run crash investigation. The kit contained three syringes, a spoon and an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin. Police said they cited Bennett for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.The car’s owner, Kevin A. Kenney, 49, of North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, was ticketed for permitting violation of title.Police, meanwhile, said Bennett faces additional charges for the hit-and-run crash July 14 at New Castle Street and Hansen Avenue where the car she was driving rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Shannon Guidotti, 38, of ButlerBennett, who is accused of fleeing the scene, faces tickets for hit-and run and driving during suspension. Kenney also faces additional citations for permitting violation of title and not having insurance on the vehicle.Aug. 3 — An unknown thief overnight stole $400 worth of hand tools from a vehicle at a 53-year-old man’s home in the 300 block of Street.

Butler Twp. PoliceMonday — Police accused Mark Watt, 42, of Butler with trying to bypass the court-ordered ignition interlock device on his car. Police charged Watt with tampering with an ignition interlock system while investigating another incident.Monday — Alexander P. Thiel, 22, of Butler was found with suspected marijuana following a traffic stop about 9:50 p.m. June 3 at Route 8 north and Beech Road. Thiel is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
