Police: Driver went wrong way in triple fatality

MANOR TWP, Armstrong County — The investigation into the cause of a head-on accident that killed three people early Sunday morning has determined which driver was traveling in the wrong lane.

Gregory Johns, 46, of Worthington, who was killed in the crash, was determined to be driving his Chrysler 200 northbound in the southbound lane on Route 28/66, according to a news release from state police in Kittanning.

The other vehicle, a Subaru Outback, was going the correct way. It is undetermined why Johns was going the wrong way and the investigation is ongoing, according to the release.

The driver of the Subaru, Alex Davis, 21, of McGrann, and one passenger, Francis Danahey Jr., 27, of Verona, Allegheny County, were also pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger of the Subaru,

Michael Danahey, 26, of Kittanning, was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with severe injuries. The hospital listed his condition as critical today.

Two people in a Dodge Caravan were also injured when the minivan struck one of the first two vehicles while it was still on the road.
