Butler Police7 p.m. Monday — Cody C. Parker, 19, of Butler claimed he was trying to discipline a 3-year-old boy when he allegedly bit the child while at a home on West Quarry Street. But the child ended up injured and in need of hospital treatment.Police later arrested Parker on a misdemeanor assault charge. He is in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.Moments before the suspected assault, according to court documents, Parker's 3-year-old nephew was playing with the other boy at the home of the victim's mother. Parker got mad when he saw the other boy bite his nephew.“The defendant wanted to teach the victim not to bite so he bit the victim,” a police affidavit said.The bite on the boy's right elbow left a bruise and teeth marks. The child was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Police charged Parker with simple assault.

Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Paul Hines, 31, of New Castle was charged with shoplifting two air conditioning units from the Walmart at Butler Commons last month. Hines alleged took the merchandise, valued at $252, about 6:30 p.m. July 29. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.7:50 p.m. Tuesday — A man's mountain bike was found on the walking path at Butler High School. The owner can claim the bike by calling police at 724-285-9600.7:01 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Steve Thompson III, 25, of Lyndora struck a tree at a home in the 700 block of Mercer Road. He lost control of the vehicle when it hydroplaned on the wet road and crashed into the yard.Police cited Thompson for speeding and driving with a suspended license.4:19 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 8.Police said a vehicle driven by James Haffely, 62, of Butler pulled from Cooledge Street and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Trisha Burns, 35, of Butler.The collision caused Burns' vehicle into the southbound lane where it was struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by Chelsey Schnur, 25, of Butler. Haffely faces tickets for unspecified traffic violations.Noon Tuesday — An unidentified vehicle struck and knocked over a light pole in the parking lot of the former Kerven Subaru dealership on Barracks Road just off New Castle Road. Police noted there was “extensive damage” to the pole and light fixtures.Anyone with information about the crash, which happened between 3 p.m. Monday and noon Tuesday, is asked to call police.

Grove City PoliceWednesday — A vandal punctured two tires of a woman's car at the parking lot behind the former Rite Aid building on West Main Street. The vandalism happened between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

State Police, Butler12:10 p.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle collision on Route 356 in Jefferson Township. The crash happened when a minivan driven by Andrew Berkoben, 72, of Sarver turned in front of car driven by William H. Shoup Jr., 88, of Cabot.The car's passenger, Juanita Shoup, 85, of Cabot, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police cited Berkoben for driving on the wrong side of the road.The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company and Saxonburg Ambulance assisted.11 a.m. Wednesday — A 23-year-old Fenelton man, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing a 42-inch flat-screen television from a home in the 2900 block of Old Route 422 east in Clearfield Township. The thief drove away in a car with the TV valued at $800. Police continue to investigate the alleged theft.2:45 p.m. Aug. 13 — A 15-year-old Cleveland boy ended up at a Pittsburgh hospital following a fight with another teenager at the Summit Academy reform school on Herman Road in Summit Township.A shoving match apparently started the altercation during which a 16-year-old Philadelphia boy allegedly punched the other youth. The younger boy was taken to Children's Hospital where he was treated for a cut around his right eye.Police said the 16-year-old faces charges of simple assault and harassment. The other boy faces a charge of harassment. Police did not identify either teen.11:47 p.m. July 3 — Joshua Space, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 at Campbell's Notary Service in Center Township.

State Police, Kittanning12:20 a.m. Tuesday — A 45-year-old Butler woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 in East Deer Township, Allegheny County.12:39 p.m. Sunday — Jennifer A. Molnar, 64, of Ford City was hurt when the sport utility vehicle she was driving rear-ended a car stopped on Route 66 just south of Ross Street in Manor Township.Molnar, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township with minor injuries. Andrew P. Myschisin, 52, of Ford City was the other driver.

State Police, Mercer6:02 p.m. Wednesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Carla M. Lukonic, 48, of Sharpsville crashed head-on into a car while turning at Route 58 and Irishtown Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. Police cited Lukonic for making an improper left turn. John L. Oakes, 81, of Mercer was the other driver.10 p.m. Aug. 12 — Justin R. Frazier, 23, of Grove City was hurt in a suspected assault at the Elephant & Castle restaurant parking lot on Route 208 in Springfield Township. Police said a suspect, who they did not identify, punched Frazier several times.Frazier suffered undisclosed injuries. The investigation continues, police said,

State Police, New CastleSunday — A vandal wielding a blunt object damaged a mailbox and post at a home on Armstrong Road in Perry Township, Armstrong County. The vandalism, which caused about $50 in damage, happened between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:15 a.m. Sunday.
