Brendan Malone punched Mars’ ticket to the Eagle County League championship series with a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, securing a 9-7 win against Pine-Richland at Marburger Field on Wednesday.

Mars swept the best-of-five semifinal series 3-0.

John Taveras doubled in front of Malone’s walk-off homer.

The former also singled earlier in the game and scored four times. Dan Penberthy added a home run and Brandon Bergstrom doubled twice for Mars (25-5-1).

Zach Scherer singled and doubled for Pine-Richland.
