US Airways closing center

CORAOPOLIS — US Airways is closing its Pittsburgh area flight operations control center as part of its merger with American Airlines.

The Moon Township facility will handle its last flight Aug. 23.

American is eliminating the US Airways brand and shifting flight operations to a new center in Fort Worth, Texas.

About 650 people work at the US Airways facility. An American spokesman said more than half of them will be moved to Fort Worth.
